Hello, I’m Carolyn Zinn. I live in Michigan, and I love to create with fabric.
I have been creating with fabric for as long as I can remember, ever since I learned the magic of joining one piece of fabric to another, forever transforming both into something of purpose and beauty. As a young adult, I was first drawn to quilting by a fascination with the geometry and color of traditional Amish quilts. In recent years, I have begun to use bolder colors, organic shapes and nontraditional media.
My art quilts are constructed of natural fibers, like cotton, linen and silk; and natural embellishments such as glass, metal, wood and shells. Many of my pieces emerge intuitively and organically, with very little preplanning. When creating small art quilts, I prefer to piece and embellish by hand, which allows me to be more flexible and spontaneous.
I am a member of the Kalamazoo Log Cabin Quilt Guild Art Quilt Group, the Great Lakes Modern Quilt Guild, the Modern Quilt Guild, the American Quilters Society and the Surface Design Association.
